Stay aboard the Grand Victoria for a cruise through French wine country. The rolling hills of this scenic countryside retreat are made for a beautiful view as the yacht cuts its way down the Saône. The small, intimate setting aboard is perfect for time away from home, and the relaxed atmosphere of this gorgeous country couldn’t be more welcoming. The crew is just as welcoming, with friendly smiles and upbeat demeanor in every interaction. You’re welcomed aboard by Edward and Cindy, the owners and operators of the Grand Victoria, with a champagne toast and scrumptious delights. The beautiful outdoor space is well-appointed, with a lovely seating area and tasteful fire pits for ambiance, and the owners chat with guests over drinks. The warm, gracious hospitality they exhibit will make you feel comfortable right on arrival.

Your tour guide takes you on an excursion to Dijon, the capital of the Burgundy region, to visit the local market, tour the city, and visit a French bistro for lunch. The market has stood there since the nineteenth century, and was designed by one of Dijon’s famous sons, Gustave Eiffel, as the centerpiece of the city’s historic downtown. The vendors have spilled into the streets surrounding the ironwork center of the market, selling all sorts of wares. Inside, bakers, butchers, and farmers sell fresh food in a bustle of activity.

From the market, guests partake on a walking tour through the heart of Dijon’s historic center. The Ducal palace, once home to the ruling Dukes of Burgundy, and the Place Francois-Rude, are particularly wonderful sights. The city is full of rich history to marvel at. Following your tour, lunch at a wonderful bistro in the Place Francois-Rude. The owners of the cafe are personal friends of Edward and Cindy, and treat you to coffee, a light lunch, and some of the most incredible desserts ever experienced. The entire meal is divine, and a fantastic capstone to the tour of Dijon.

Return to the Grand Victoria in the mid-afternoon, which provides ample opportunity to relax on board while the yacht cruises to a new mooring place. The pace is leisurely, and the scenery is marvelous.

Dinner is prepared for you by the Grand Victoria’s resident chef, and is expertly paired with a wine from the yacht’s on-board selection with Edward’s input. It’s a hands-on approach that pays off when you sit down to dine. The main course is a marvelous seared lamb rack, dusted fingerling potatoes, and poached pears, paired with a fruity Gevrey-Chambertin. The entire meal is a culinary treat, but the dessert, a rich chocolate mousse, is a savory masterpiece.

Guests close out the day much as it began, with the Grand Victoria docked in a small French village, gently rocking with the current. With drinks in hand, relax in the salon, with a full view of the darkness of night settling in around your cozy, floating accommodation. The promise of tomorrow, however, is bright, with new adventures awaiting us in beautiful Burgundy. Schedule a tour with us aboard the Grand Victoria, allow your vacation experience an array of new combinations.
