There are numerous reasons to add Burgundy to your list of places to travel! The countryside is nothing but stunning views as far as the eye can see; rolling hills crowned with historic castles, overlooking the region’s extensive vineyards, dot the landscape. Villages dating to the Middle Ages line Burgundy’s canals and rivers, and stepping foot into them is like being transported back in time. Markets and town squares bustle as they have for centuries, in the shadow of majestic churches reminding you of a bygone era of architecture.
Beyond this, the crowning achievement of Burgundy is its unsurpassed cuisine and wine, which is what we celebrate on every Grand Victoria cruise. On each of our Burgundy river barge cruises, our guests are treated to some of the finest cuisine offered on the river. We do two lunches off board — one at a Michelin-star restaurant — to get a firsthand look at the local cuisine, with the rest of the meals served by our on-board chef in our elegant dining area. Our chef takes local flavors and provides a unique twist on them, and serves them paired with wine from the region. We consult with a professional sommelier to ensure our pairings are perfect for you! Our menu has included roasted duck breast, charolais beef, and sea scallops, all paired with Burgundy wines perfect for the meal. We pride ourselves in fresh, local ingredients, purchased from local markets.
And of course there is plenty of wine on board! All of our wine is Burgundy Premier Cru quality, and is paired with every lunch and dinner served on board! From Gevrey-Chambertin to Clos de Vougeot, there is always a different wine to look forward to. We consult with a professional sommelier to ensure that every wine is the perfect pairing with our chef’s meal.
We enjoy food and wine immensely, and we share that passion with every meal we serve on board. We believe that you’ll enjoy each and every bite and sip while you stay with us!
